About Doug In the wake of a stroke, I grappled with denial, clinging to memories of my original, pristine self as version1.0. The harsh reality struck when I was told, "You've had a brain injury." Slowly, I started to accept the truth, realizing I might never return to that initial 1.0 state. Picture your life as a crisp, untouched piece of paper, we'll call it Version 1.0. Now, crumple that paper into a ball, feel the contours and hills and valleys. This is your transformation, your journey into the crumpled reality of Version 2.0. As you try to smooth it out, notice the lines, the highs, and the lows—it's a testament to your existence. Embrace the truth that you can't revert to the pristine state; instead, relish the ramifications of your new self. This revelation took my thoughts away from denial, unveiling the exciting chapter of my life as 2.0. I embraced the idea that I was now the new and improved version, the resilient 2.0. With determination and hard work, I progressed, learning to love my altered life. Through the process, I discovered the beauty of the new me, uncovering preferences and passions I hadn't explored before. Navigating this uncharted territory, I learned to be kind to myself, recognizing the strength within my 2.0 self. In this journey of self-discovery, I found joy in embracing the unique aspects of my new life. The stroke survivor learned not just to accept, but to embrace the opportunity for growth and newfound appreciation, turning 2.0 life into a story of resilience and self-love.
