A New Chapter for Stroke TV Media: Announcing Stroke TV Media Foundation. UPDATED 5/27/25

A Heartfelt Update from Aaron Avila
May 27, 2025

Hey everyone,
I recently shared with my amazing wife, Rebecca, my idea of turning Stroke TV Media into a nonprofit corporation. Let me tell you, Rebecca feels strongly against it—and after 32 incredible years of marriage and partnership, I’ve learned one thing: her intuition is always spot-on.
So, with a smile and full trust in her wisdom, I’m happy to announce that Stroke TV Media will stay just as it is—no nonprofit change for us. We’ll keep doing what we love as Stroke TV Media, plain and simple.
Thanks for being part of our journey!
With gratitude,
Aaron

Hello, Stroke TV Media Community,
I’m Aaron Avila, the CEO and Founder of Stroke TV Media, and I’m thrilled to share a monumental moment in our journey. After seven incredible years of building this movement, we’ve reached a crossroads that will shape our future. Today, I’m excited to announce that Stroke TV Media will officially register as a nonprofit organization and rebrand as Stroke TV Media Foundation. This decision reflects our unwavering commitment to transforming stroke recovery and empowering survivors, caregivers, and communities worldwide.
When I first envisioned Stroke TV Media, I was driven by a passion to change the landscape of stroke recovery through the power of media. Over the years, that vision has grown into a vibrant community, compelling content, and a platform that amplifies the voices of stroke survivors. As we’ve expanded, I’ve faced a critical decision: should Stroke TV Media become a for-profit corporation or a nonprofit foundation?
To answer this, I turned to the heart of our movement—our mission statement, which has been my compass since day one. Crafted when Stroke TV Media was just an inspired idea, it captures the essence of why we exist. After revisiting it, the path forward became crystal clear. Our mission is not about profit—it’s about purpose. It’s about creating lasting impact for stroke survivors and driving change through education, innovation, and community. A nonprofit structure aligns perfectly with this vision, enabling us to pursue grants, donations, and partnerships that will amplify our reach and deepen our impact.

Here’s the mission statement that guided this decision:
Stroke TV Media Foundation Mission Statement
At Stroke TV Media Foundation, our mission is to transform stroke recovery by harnessing the power of media to inspire, educate, and innovate. We empower stroke survivors through compelling content, including personal stories, expert insights, and our flagship podcast, STROKE: The Journey Within Podcast, fostering a supportive community that reduces isolation and amplifies voices. We drive innovation by bridging cutting-edge research and technologies—such as AI, VR, and telemedicine—with accessible education and advocacy. Through impactful campaigns, educational series, and strategic partnerships, we elevate public awareness about stroke prevention, recognition, and recovery. By building informed, inspired, and interconnected communities, Stroke TV Media Foundation is dedicated to advancing recovery outcomes by improving stroke survivors’ mindsets and redefining possibilities for stroke survivors worldwide.

This mission statement reflects our core belief: every stroke survivor deserves hope, support, and access to the tools that can redefine their journey. By becoming a nonprofit, we can better serve this purpose.

As Stroke TV Media Foundation, we’ll continue producing high-quality content, like STROKE: The Journey Within Podcast, and expand our community platforms to connect survivors, caregivers, and advocates. We’ll advocate for groundbreaking technologies and research, making them accessible to those who need them most. And we’ll amplify our campaigns, such as World Stroke Day initiatives, to educate the public and demystify the recovery process.
Choosing the nonprofit path opens exciting opportunities. We can now pursue grants from foundations, collaborate with public media like PBS affiliates, and build partnerships with health organizations to reach broader audiences. Most importantly, it ensures that every dollar we raise goes directly toward advancing our mission—empowering stroke survivors and transforming lives.

As we transition to Stroke TV Media to a Foundation, you’ll see our branding evolve to reflect this new chapter. Our commitment to you—our community—remains stronger than ever. Thank you for believing in this movement, sharing your stories, and supporting our work. Together, we’re not just changing stroke recovery; we’re redefining what’s possible.

Stay tuned for updates as we embark on this exciting journey as Stroke TV Media Foundation. If you’d like to get involved, share your story, or support our mission, reach out to us at aaronavila.stroketv@gmail.com. Let’s continue building a world where stroke survivors thrive.
With gratitude and determination,

CEO/Founder, Stroke TV Media Foundation

I just had a thought. (11:27am PST)
Do you want to be a Founding Member of Stroke TV Media Foundation? I need to raise the formation capital to create Stroke TV Media Foundation? My guess is around $1,00.00. Updated amount of money is needed at startup and here's why. I'll update this post when I get solid numbers.

This will give an idea what I created so far. Of course it will all be branded to Stroke TV Media Foundation.

Anyway, if you would like to donate formation funds, please email me at aaronavila.stroketv@gmail.com
Together we will change and impact stroke survivors and their families lives.
Sincerely,
Aaron Avila
